AGENDA

Winnipeg Model United Nations Assembly (MUNA)

Canadian Mennonite University, Winnipeg, MB, April 30 – May 3, 2020

Agenda for the upcoming 2020 MUNA Event will follow

The 2019 Winnipeg MUNA is implementing two changes compared to past years. The first is the introduction of ‘Informal Consultations’ for drafting two of the four resolutions tabled at MUNA. This provides an opportunity for delegates to interact in smaller group settings without formal rules of procedure and to gain experience in consensus-building approaches. Counsellors and delegates are therefore encouraged to carefully study the revised ‘MUNA Structure’ and ‘Preparing for MUNA’ webpages.

The second change is using the current UN General Assembly “Rules of Procedure’ rather than the Robert’s Rules of Procedure. Please refer to the revised ‘MUNA Rules’ webpage for guidance. This includes a description of delegate roles for the committee Chair, Vice-Chair, and Rapporteur and also the committee Secretary served by a counsellor.

To assist counsellors and delegates with these changes, the MUNA Orientation Session held annually on Thursday evening will be expanded this year to provide training on the Informal Consultation approach and the current General Assembly Rules of Procedure and Roles.
